How-To: Editing User Profile

Parts of your user profile are used everywhere on the forum.

Your profile information CANNOT be seen by Guests or Unregistered Users
Profiles are for MEMBERS ONLY
If your concerned about what someone else might see,
Just log out and look for yourself

That said, your profile helps make this a more friendly environment, and makes it easier for everyone to keep who's who straight

Your Profile is like a big detailed business card, it let's people know who you are.

• Your Avatar is displayed next to every post you make,
• Your signature, if you have one, is your personal mark on all your posts and can contain anything you'd like.

Avatar Settings

The Avatar is a picture that represents you on the forum. You may confuse this with a profile picture, but the Avatar is what's shown next to all of your posts.

To Edit your Forum Avatar:

1. Go to your User CP (links at the top of the page)
2. On the left hand side, under Settings and Options, click Edit Avatar
3. You have 3 choices when it comes to Avatars:
   • Use no Avatar - I Bet you know what this does
     
   • Pre-defined Generic Avatars - These are basic avatars available for anyone to use if you don't have your own.
     
   • Upload a Custom Avatar - If you have a cool picture you'd like to use you can upload it to us.
     
4. Select the method you want to use by clicking the button next to that option.

If you select Use no Avatar, press Save Changes and your done!
If you've chosen a Generic Avatar, all you need to do is select the button next to the picture you want, scroll down, and press the Save Changes button.
If you choose to upload a Custom Avatar, you have two options:

Option 1: Select an Avatar that's on another website by giving us the URL from the site it's at (ex: Photo Bucket or Image Shack) and pressing the Save Changes Button

Option 2: Press the Browse Button and find the picture on your computer that you want to upload, and press Open. Then press Save Changes and your new Avatar will be online.

A Notice About Avatars

All Avatars are limited to the smaller of 150x150px OR 500kb. If you're picture is too big (file size), you can't upload it. Also, if your picture is to wide or too tall, the board will try to Auto Size it, but the photo quality may be damaged.

If you upload an offensive (racist, pornographic, derogatory, etc) avatar, you will be warned, suspended and possibly permanently banned from the forum. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Signature Settings

Your signature can contain your Name, some quick information about yourself, and 1 image (500 wide x 100 tall).

To Edit your signature:

1. Go to your User CP (links at the top of the page)
2. On the left hand side, under Settings and Options, click Edit Signature
3. There are three sections on this page:
   • Preview - Your current Signature
   • Edit Signature - Type your signature here
   • Signature Picture - Upload your image into your signature
4. Editing your signature is as easy as posting a message, what you see is what you get. Please keep your signature short so it does not take up too much room on the forum. About 5 lines of text only, or a couple lines of text, and a picture should be good.

When you post a message, you have the option to turn your signature on and off. If you're posting multiple times in a row, it's recommended that you turn your signature off after the first post to help keep the pages clutter free.

Editing Profile Information

Your Profile Information is some quick basic information about yourself. Your Email and Password settings, Age Information, Your Interests, and some Contact Information are all on this page.

To Edit your basic Profile Information:

1. Go to your User CP (links at the top of the page)
2. On the left hand side, under Settings and Options, click Edit Profile
3. There are several sections in 3 categories on this page:
   • Required Information - You filled this out when you registered
     
   • Optional Information - Contact Information, available to Members Only.
     
   • Additional Information - Fun stuff like your Biography Interests and what you play in the band.
     
4. To change the information displayed on your profile, all you have to do is fill out the fields you want to. Most are optional and in no way required (Except the Required Information )

The information you post in your profile is only available to the other registered members and the administrators of the message board. The only purpose of your profile is to help someone else find and communicate with you.
